Man has been hunting animals such as deer and buffalo for the purposes of food, clothing and shelter for a very long time. Hunting history actually predates the civilized world as we know it today and there are many archaeological discoveries that confirm this fact.
An Asian spearhead has been carbon dated as being over 16,000 years old and there is some evidence that we used larger game as food as much as 2 million years ago. That doesn’t seem likely to me but I suppose it’s not impossible. Archaeologists think it’s the case, tho.
The most likely weapons first used were probably rocks thrown to kill small game with hunting spears coming soon after. Easy to sharpen a long piece of wood and make the point. Also a very effective close in weapon that could bring down large animals. However rocks were used to bring down birds like quail and partridge.
Quail hunting is one of the top sports for those on the upper crust of society. It’s considered the top hunt for the aristocracy and is practiced by vice presidents (don’t quail hunt with VP Cheney tho) and world leaders to this day. Quail hunting is considered this way because it demands a lot less of the hunter in comparison to other hunts. That’s why there are also a lot of quail hunting tips around.
It doesn’t take place in the morning, for example, or in the shivering cold. Instead, quail hunting can be done in relative comfort and can actually be quite stylish. For this reason, many people in the upper class of society try quail hunting.
Lot of hunters stay in quail hunting lodges and many of the hunting shows you see on TV are Texas quail hunting shows. Other states, including South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Arizona, New Mexico and California also have great hunting. You can find Quail in most states but not all.
